Bacterial viability tests

Below are bacterial vitality data on the FiltriNextilluminated by 365 nm – 1.4 W UVA LEDs and 260 nm – 0.35 W UVC LEDs on which bacteria were previously cultivated (tests carried out by the Microbiology Laboratory of the Politecnico di Milano)

FilterUV LEDN° testsBacterial colony (CFU/m3)Confronto (%)
Polyesternone6277,3 ± 83,9100% ± 30%
FiltriNext365 nm – 1,4 W42,7 ± 2,901,0% ± 1,0%
FiltriNext260 nm – 0,35 W200%

While a large number of bacteria remain vital on a traditional filter, bacteria are practically all killed on UV LED illuminated FiltriNext material

Pollutant reduction tests

The following are the abatement values of solid particulates (SPs), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), total nitrogen oxides (NOx) and bacteria (CFU) obtained on two different specially developed environmental purifiers, installed in a 8 m3 test chamber contaminated by burning a cigarette.

“Dado” table-top purifier

Dimensions 125 x 125 x 125 mm + base, 3 tangential fans powered by 12 or 6 V, UVA LED, incorporating FiltriNext

Floor-standing purifier

Dimensions 350 x 350 x 500 mm, a high flow fan, UVA LED, a FilterNext filter or a FilterNext plus an activated carbon commercial filter

PSTPSTAbatement (%) over time (minutes)
VOCVOCAbatement (%) over time (minutes)
NOxNOxAbatement (%) after 90 minutes

The tests clearly demonstrate the ability of FiltriNext to abate SPs, VOCs, NOx, and a significant abatement not only of bacteria trapped on filters, but also of bacteria in aerosol
